Limestone

A sturdy, warm-looking stone that’s both affordable and low maintenance

Limestone is a hard sedimentary rock made up mainly of calcium carbonate.

Typically formed where corals, algae and shellfish live, limestone starts as the floor of a shallow, warm tropical sea and continually forms as soft sediment interacts with salt water.

Ooliths—pieces of sand, shell or sea animals—and a cement of calcium carbonate comprise this popular stone.
